We Are Hiring:

Farm Hand / Caregiver — JP Farm Animal Sanctuary

Job description

We are looking for a dependable person who will tend to our rescued farm animals: cows; pigs; chickens; and turkeys in Litchfield, Connecticut.

Please apply only if you have the following:

  • Must have large & small farm animal experience.
  • Must have a reliable 4 wheel or all wheel drive vehicle.
  • Must live within thirty minutes of the sanctuary.
  • Must be 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities:

  • Feeding, watering and caring for the animals.
  • Mucking stalls, raking and cleaning in and around barns.
  • Able to perform strenuous physical labor and lifting.
  • Able to follow detailed instructions and maintain animal care schedules.
  • Able to communicate effectively regarding animal welfare in daily reports.
  • Additional duties may include odd jobs around the sanctuary.

Qualifications:

  • Reliable, dependable and timely.
  • Able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Commitment to JP Farm’s animal care policy.
  • Self motivated, self starter, self initiative, team player.
  • Must have excellent animal behavior observation skills.

Specifications:

  • Part time. 16-20 hours
  • Starting wage at $16.50 an hour.
  • We are looking to fill the following shifts:
  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 4-8 PM
  • Work schedules can vary with possible weekends and holidays required.
